Privacy Policy: Apposters for Chrome

The browser extension "Apposters - Turns GitHub into a SaaS / Website". Last updated: October 22, 2026.

In short: the extension reads the address of the tab you are on only when you click its button, keeps one short note on your computer, and passes on exactly one thing: the address of the GitHub repository, in the link of the apposters.com tab it opens. It has no server of its own, no analytics and no tracking, and it never sells or shares anything.

What the extension reads

When you click the Apposters button in the Chrome toolbar, the extension reads the address (URL) of the current tab. Chrome allows this through the activeTab permission, for that tab and at that click only. The extension checks whether the address belongs to a GitHub repository, such as https://github.com/owner/name/issues/12, and keeps only the owner and the repository name from it.

It does not read the content of the page, your other tabs, your browsing history, bookmarks, cookies or passwords. It does not run on github.com or on any other site you visit. If you never click the button, the extension reads nothing at all.

What the extension keeps on your computer

When you pick SaaS, Website or Landing Page, the extension saves one note in Chrome's local storage for extensions (the storage permission): the repository address, the project type you picked and the time of the click. The note exists so that the Apposters tab it opens can start the generation without a second click, even if you have to sign in or create an account first.

What the extension sends, and where

The extension makes no network requests of its own. The only information that leaves your browser because of it is the repository address and the project type, as part of the address of the apposters.com tab it opens when you click, for example https://apposters.com/workspace/?repo=https://github.com/owner/name&project=saas. That is the same information apposters.com receives when you paste the repository link into its form yourself. Because it is the address of a page you visited, the extension's listing in the Chrome Web Store declares it as web history.

The script on apposters.com

The extension adds a small script to the Apposters workspace page (https://apposters.com/workspace/) and to no other page or site. The script waits for the workspace to say it is ready, checks that the workspace was opened for the same repository as the note, and hands the note to it, so the generation starts. It does not read or change anything else on the page, and it does not see your account, your sign-in or your projects.

What happens on apposters.com

Once the Apposters tab is open, you are using the Apposters website exactly as if you had opened it yourself, and nothing from here on goes through the extension. To generate, you sign in or create a free account there. Apposters then reads the repository from GitHub (a private repository only after you authorize your GitHub account on apposters.com), and the AI writes the site. The website keeps you signed in with cookies and, unless you decline in its cookie notice, counts visits and the buttons people use with Google Analytics, including the fact that a generation was started from the extension.

What we do not do

The use of information received by the extension adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

The permissions, one by one

activeTabRead the address of the tab you clicked the button on, at that click only, to tell which GitHub repository it is.
storageKeep the note described above on your computer, for up to 30 minutes, until the Apposters tab starts the generation.
https://apposters.com/workspace/*Run the script that hands the note to the Apposters workspace page. Nowhere else.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of the extension needs any other data or permission, this page will say so before that version is published, and Chrome will ask you to approve a new permission before it takes effect. The date at the top shows the last change.
